How many pages should a resume be?
There is no rule that a resume has to be one page. Your resume has to represent what you have to offer to your next employer clearly and concisely.
How do I know if my resume needs to be rewritten?
There are some obvious clues that your resume is not as effective as it could be. You may not be getting offers for interviews at all, or you may not be receiving appropriate responses to your resume (e.g. getting calls for positions you are clearly overqualified for).
Can I use my resume for more than one job application?
That depends. If you are applying for the same type of position, you can use the same resume with a few minor customizations each time. If you are targeting more than one career field or industry, you will need more than one resume.
Why should I hire a resume writer?
Professional resume writers are specialists who are trained on how to best market your background to increase your chances of being contacted for an interview. Partnering with a resume writer is no different from hiring an attorney to help you file court papers or hiring an accountant to help you file your taxes.
What about all of the free information online?
While there are many free resources available on the web, many of them are outdated and only cover the most basic rules of resume writing. The problem is that there is not a standard set of rules that apply to all jobseekers and all situations. Writing a resume is a process that has changed over the years, and a professional resume writer stays up to date on the trends and what makes a resume stand out.
Can a professional resume writer really do better a better job than I could?
In most cases, yes. Can a tile setter do a quicker and more efficient job laying tile in your bathroom? Can a specialist fix your air conditioning unit better than you could if you climbed up on your roof and fumbled around all day? Of course, there are people who are the ultimate do-it-yourself experts β so there are exceptions.
How much will this cost?
Pricing is available on the order page.
Are resume writing fees tax deductible?
I am not a tax law expert, but in many cases, the fees are tax deductible. Please visit the IRS website to download Publication 529.
What is your turnaround time?
My services are in demand and if there is a waiting list, you will have the option of securing your place in line by submitting your order. Typically, resumes can be turned around within seven business days after all of the initial intake is completed. You will be offered a specific date when you order services.
How will I receive my new documents?
Your files will be sent to you via e-mail in MS Word (.doc & .docx), Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format, and plain-text (.txt) formats.
Can I see samples of your work?
Certainly. Just e-mail me and ask.
Itβs Wednesday and I need a resume by Friday. Can you help me?
I operate on quality and not quantity. Resume writing is a highly collaborative process and I work with most customers over the course of several weeks. I do not use automated programs, outsourced writers, templates, or shortcuts.
What is your guarantee? Can you guarantee my new resume will get me a job?
No one can realistically make that guarantee. There are many factors involved in the job search process including how aggressive you are in your search, how well you present yourself in an interview, your local unemployment rate, etc. Besides, resumes get interviews β not jobs. For more information, please read my guarantee policy.
Will my new resume look unique?
Yes. I don’t like “rules” β I do what works. For each client, what works is different which is why I do not use templates.
